Michigan coach Sherrone Moore has officially signed his complete contract, nearly nine months after he began his tenure under an initial agreement.
The announcement was made by University of Michigan President Santa J. Ono and athletic director Warde Manuel on Wednesday. FOX Sports’ Joel Klatt first reported the news during “Big Noon Kickoff,” just prior to Michigan’s 31-12 defeat against Texas, marking the Wolverines’ first loss under Moore’s leadership.
In a joint statement, the university’s leaders praised Moore, stating, “He is a proven leader and has been a great ambassador during his seven-plus years representing Michigan.”
Following Jim Harbaugh’s departure in late January to coach the Los Angeles Chargers after a successful run that included a national championship, Moore secured a five-year contract with a starting salary set at $5.5 million.
Expressing his gratitude, Moore stated, “Our University of Michigan administration led by president Santa Ono and athletic director Warde Manuel has been tremendous throughout this process, and I am excited to have this full contract completed. Their support for our team is greatly appreciated, and all three of us are aligned in our goals for this football program.”
He emphasized the importance of focusing on the players who dedicate themselves to representing the team and the university at the highest level.
The Wolverines kicked off their season with a solid 30-10 victory over Fresno State but faced a setback against Texas. They are set to play their third of four consecutive home games this Saturday against Arkansas State.
