Man United Set to Secure Ruben Amorim as New Coach After Release Clause Revealed!

Man United closing in on hiring Sporting coach Ruben Amorim after being told release clause figure

Manchester United is reportedly nearing an agreement to hire Ruben Amorim, as the club has shown readiness to activate the release clause for the Sporting Lisbon manager.

On Tuesday, Sporting Lisbon announced via the Lisbon Stock Exchange that they informed United of a release clause in Amorim’s contract, valued at 10 million euros ($10.8 million).

The reigning Portuguese champions confirmed that United has expressed interest in paying this figure to secure Amorim’s services.

This move comes as United seeks a replacement for Erik ten Hag, who was dismissed on Monday while the team finds itself in a troubling 14th position in the Premier League.

Ten Hag’s departure marks the fifth managerial change for the 20-time English champions since the retirement of legendary manager Alex Ferguson in 2013, a period during which United has not claimed the league title.

At just 39 years old, Amorim has been at the helm of Sporting since 2020, leading the team to Portuguese league triumphs in both 2021 and the previous season.

Currently, Sporting is at the top of the league table, having won all nine matches this season, further enhancing Amorim’s reputation as one of the most promising coaches in Europe.

Amorim has previously been linked with managerial roles at West Ham and was considered a candidate to succeed Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool before the appointment of Arne Slot.

A former midfielder for Portugal, Amorim dedicated most of his playing career to Benfica.

His existing contract with Sporting is set to run until 2026.
