Liverpool head to Craven Cottage for the opening game of the 2022/23 Premier League season, where Jurgen Klopp’s side take on newly promoted Fulham.
The Cottagers ensured an immediate return to the Premier League after being relegated in 2021 when Marco Silva’s charges clinched the league title in May.
Liverpool endured a mixed end to their pre-season with losses to RB Salzburg and Strasbourg, both sides of an impressive Community Shield win over Manchester City.
Klopp will field a strong side in west London but will he sign Darwin Nunez for a Premier League debut in the summer?
Here’s how they’re likely to line up.

Expected Liverpool line-up: The Reds’ starting XI against Fulham
This is what Liverpool’s squad could look like in a 4-3-3 formation: Alisson (TG) – Robertson, van Dijk, Matip, Alexander-Arnold – Fabinho, Thiago, Henderson – Nunez, Salah, Diaz
Which Liverpool signings could start against Fulham?
Klopp has spent around £77m ($94m) on new players this summer to bolster his squad ahead of the 2022/23 season.
Uruguay international Darwin Nunez is the big name to arrive at Anfield after securing a £67.5m ($83.2m) deal from Benfica following Sadio Mane’s move to Bayern Munich.
Despite his impressive four goals against RB Leipzig last season and his key goal in the Community Shield, Klopp has often preferred to bring his new players into the starting XI.
Nunez has been used as an impact player in most of Liverpool’s preseason games but we reckon Klopp could unleash Nunez from the start against Fulham. Roberto Firmino would come in when Nunez starts on the bench and he could be joined by new signing Fabio Carvalho – against his former side – while Calvin Ramsey is set to miss out.

Liverpool injury news for Fulham trip
Klopp confirmed first-choice goalkeeper Alisson will be fit to return in place of Adrian despite the Brazil international missing all of his pre-season games through injury.
Backup stopper Caoimhin Kelleher is out with a hip problem, while Diogo Jota and Ibrahima Konate will miss the next few weeks of action. Naby Keita has been ill but Klopp is hoping he will pass a late fitness test.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Kostas Tsmikas are also absent through injury.
What was the result between Liverpool and Fulham last season?
After Fulham were relegated in 2021, the two sides did not face each other in the Premier League last season.
The Cottagers, however, had an unbeaten record against Klopp in 2020/21 when Mario Lemina secured a 1-0 win in the capital after a 1-1 draw at Anfield when Mo Salah’s late penalty from Bobby Decordova-Reid’s opener equalized became.
