LeBron James has been ruled out of the Los Angeles Lakers’ matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night due to discomfort in his left foot.
This marks James’ second consecutive absence as the Lakers return from a four-day break, a decision confirmed by the team on Thursday.
The all-time leading scorer in NBA history has been away from the squad this week for personal reasons, according to coach JJ Redick. It remains uncertain if he will make the brief trip to Minnesota before the Lakers host the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday.
James previously sat out his first game of this record-tying 22nd NBA season during the Lakers’ victory over the Portland Trail Blazers at home last Sunday, also due to his foot issue.
Currently, James is averaging 23.0 points, 9.1 assists, and 8.0 rebounds for the Lakers, who hold a 13-11 record but have struggled recently, losing seven of their last ten games after a promising 10-4 start.
In a related update, the Lakers have elevated Austin Reaves to questionable status for the game against Minnesota, as he has been sidelined for the past five games due to a pelvic bruise. Meanwhile, Anthony Davis is listed as probable, dealing with left plantar fasciitis.
