LeBron James and his son, Bronny James, reportedly turned down an opportunity to make history once more. The duo declined to participate in the 2025 Kia Skills Challenge during the NBA All-Star weekend, as noted by league insider Chris Haynes. This decision means they will not become the first father-son pair to compete in this exciting event.
Additionally, the report highlighted that Bronny James did not accept an invitation to join the Rising Stars team as a G League player. This year’s NBA All-Star weekend is set to take place in San Francisco, the home city of the Golden State Warriors.
The James family made headlines earlier this season when they played together in the Lakers’ season opener, marking the first time a father and son shared the court in an NBA game.
Bronny James was selected by the Los Angeles Lakers with the No. 55 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft after his time at USC. He has participated in 11 NBA games this season, averaging just 2.3 minutes on the court. His journey has seen him moving between the Lakers and their G League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers.

In the G League, Bronny has played seven games, averaging 26.9 minutes per game with impressive stats of 13.4 points, 3.9 assists, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.1 steals, while shooting percentages stand at 36.6% from the field, 21.2% from three-point range, and 66.7% from the free-throw line.
On the other hand, the veteran LeBron James continues to shine, averaging 23.7 points, 9.0 assists, and 7.5 rebounds per game, with shooting splits of 51.3% from the field, 39.8% from beyond the arc, and 76.3% from the charity stripe. He recently earned his 21st All-Star selection, a record in NBA history.
As the Lakers prepared for their Thursday night clash against the Boston Celtics, they held a record of 23-18, positioning them as the fifth seed in the competitive Western Conference.
