The Davante Adams saga has taken a fascinating turn, with whispers of a potential trade brewing. Fans are speculating about a possible connection to the Baltimore Ravens.
Just four days after his trade request from the Las Vegas Raiders, Adams stirred the pot by sharing an image of Edgar Allan Poe on social media, igniting a flurry of discussions among fans and analysts alike.
NFL Insider Albert Breer suggests that Adams is strategically maneuvering to orchestrate a trade to the New York Jets, which would reunite him with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, with whom he played from 2014 to 2021 at the Green Bay Packers.
Breer noted, “The Raiders need to create a market for Adams, as other teams believe he is pushing for a move to the Jets.” He mentioned that the Buffalo Bills and the Pittsburgh Steelers have shown interest, while the New Orleans Saints are also in the mix, as Adams has expressed willingness to join a team led by Derek Carr.
“The Steelers and Bills might hesitate to engage if they feel they are merely pawns in this situation,” Breer explained. “The Raiders face a challenge in determining Adams’ true market value if they only have one serious bidder. Realistically, they might expect a return of a third- or fourth-round pick.” He further emphasized that if teams suspect Adams is headed to the Jets, they may be reluctant to make firm offers.
Breer added that Adams holds some influence in this scenario, as teams will want his approval before finalizing any trade. “It’s a complex situation, but many believe Adams is working towards a trade to the Jets, and he has been in touch with Rodgers,” he stated.
Adams, now 31 years old, is in the third year of a five-year, $140 million contract he signed with the Raiders in 2022. The Raiders had previously traded a first- and second-round pick to acquire him from Green Bay. His trade request surfaced shortly after reports indicated that the Raiders were exploring potential trade options for him.
Due to a hamstring injury, Adams missed the Raiders’ Week 4 victory against the Cleveland Browns and will be sidelined again in Week 5. So far this season, he has recorded 18 catches for 209 yards and one touchdown across three games.
As a six-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro, Adams has accumulated 10,990 receiving yards on 890 receptions, averaging 12.3 yards per catch, along with 96 touchdowns in 153 career games—eight years with the Packers and three with the Raiders. He has surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in five of the last six seasons and led the league in touchdown receptions twice, with 18 in 2020 and 14 in 2022.
