As the 2024 NFL season reaches its climactic final week, the New York Giants prepare to face the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday afternoon at Lincoln Financial Field in an NFC East clash.

In their initial encounter earlier this season, the Eagles dominated the Giants, winning 28-3 while favored by three points on the road in Week 7. Philadelphia again holds a three-point advantage at home for this Week 18 matchup, prompting an analysis of the Giants versus Eagles prediction.

Giants’ Resurgence in Week 17

The New York Giants managed to escape a dismal stretch, likely hindering their chances of securing the top pick in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft. They ended a franchise-record 10-game losing streak last Sunday, defeating the Indianapolis Colts 45-33 as 7.5-point underdogs at home.

This victory marked the Giants’ first at home in 2024. Despite only accumulating 80 rushing yards on 30 attempts, quarterback Drew Lock shined by throwing for 309 yards and four touchdowns, while rookie receiver Malik Nabers caught seven passes for 171 yards and two touchdowns.

Giants head coach Brian Daboll praised his team’s effort, stating, “Those guys put a lot into it. They come out, they grind every day. They have good attitudes. It’s never easy when you are losing. But I’m proud of the character and all the people in the building, and I’m mostly happy for them.”

Lock added a rushing touchdown against the Colts. Throughout the season, he has thrown for 933 yards with five touchdowns and four interceptions, completing just 55.9% of his passes. Meanwhile, Nabers has tallied 104 receptions for 1,140 yards and six touchdowns in his rookie campaign. Another rookie, Tyrone Tracy Jr., has contributed with 1,057 yards from scrimmage and six touchdowns. The Giants currently average only 16.3 points per game, placing them 31st in the NFL, while allowing 24.7 points on defense, ranking 23rd.

Eagles Maintain Focus on Playoffs

After experiencing a setback with a 36-33 loss to the Washington Commanders in Week 16, the Philadelphia Eagles bounced back impressively, defeating the Dallas Cowboys 41-7 as 7.5-point home favorites last Sunday. Currently, the Eagles hold the No. 2 seed in the NFC and plan to rest star running back Saquon Barkley, who is just 101 yards shy of breaking Eric Dickerson’s single-season rushing record of 2,105 yards set in 1984.

In their previous game, the Eagles outperformed the Cowboys with a total yard advantage of 376 to 268 and dominated the turnover battle, 4-0. Barkley had an impressive outing with 31 carries for 167 yards, while receiver DeVonta Smith recorded six receptions for 120 yards and scored twice.

With quarterback Jalen Hurts sidelined due to a concussion, Kenny Pickett started and completed 10 of 15 passes for 143 yards and a touchdown before leaving with a rib injury. Tanner McKee stepped in, throwing for 54 yards and two touchdowns in his NFL debut. With little to gain in Week 18, McKee is likely to take the reins as the starting quarterback against the Giants.

“We always want to do special things. I think winning the division is always a special thing, and then our goals are much bigger from here,” Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni mentioned, emphasizing the team’s aspirations.
