Dodgers announce Freddie Freeman had ankle surgery, will be ready for 2025

The Los Angeles Dodgers recently confirmed that standout first baseman Freddie Freeman underwent surgery on his right ankle, which involved debridement and the removal of loose bodies. This procedure is expected to have him ready for the upcoming spring training.

Freeman’s ankle injury occurred during the final week of the regular season, yet he demonstrated remarkable resilience by continuing to play during the postseason, where he delivered an impressive performance in the World Series.

During the regular season, Freeman showcased his power and skill by hitting 22 home runs and driving in 89 runs. His impressive statistics included a .282 batting average, a .378 on-base percentage, and a .476 slugging percentage, alongside a 4.7 Wins Above Replacement (WAR) and a Defensive Runs Saved (DRS) of 1 at first base.

At 35 years old, Freeman is entering the fourth year of his six-year, $162 million contract with the Dodgers, solidifying his status as a key player in the franchise’s future.
