Davante Adams landing spots are a hot topic as the star wide receiver appears poised for a change.
Recent reports indicate that Las Vegas is actively seeking a new destination for him.
Adams joined the Raiders in 2022 on a hefty five-year, $140 million contract after being traded from the Green Bay Packers. While he enjoyed a productive season with Derek Carr, the subsequent years have been challenging under coaches Josh McDaniels and Antonio Pierce, compounded by a carousel of underperforming quarterbacks. Adams’ frustrations have been evident, even featured in Netflix’s “Receiver” docuseries. This season, he seems disengaged, seemingly waiting for the inevitable trade.
Adams’ market has shifted significantly since his arrival in Las Vegas. Now 31 years old, he is set to earn $16.89 million in base salary for 2024, a figure that any potential trading team would need to accommodate. His unpredictable behavior in Las Vegas might deter some teams in need of a receiver. For instance, the Buffalo Bills may hesitate to replace Stefon Diggs, who has been a challenge, with Adams, who could present similar issues. Likewise, the New England Patriots might have an interest, but Adams likely wouldn’t want to transition from Gardner Minshew to Jacoby Brissett.
The Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers are also contenders in need of a wide receiver, but trading within the same division as the Raiders complicates matters. There are concerns about Rashee Rice’s knee injury, initially suspected to be an ACL issue, leaving the Chiefs cautious about making a significant trade for Adams, who may only be a short-term asset.
Adams’ situation reflects a broader trend where star receivers struggle to find success after switching teams in their 30s, as seen with Julio Jones and DeAndre Hopkins.
While several teams may not be viable options, here are six that could potentially work for Adams.
New York Jets
The New York Jets might seem like a crowded receiver room, boasting talents like Garrett Wilson, Mike Williams, Allen Lazard, and rookie Malachi Corley. However, with Aaron Rodgers at the helm, the dynamics shift dramatically, positioning the Jets as frontrunners for Adams.
When asked about missing Rodgers during an appearance on the “Up and Adams Show,” Adams responded, “How could you not? You know, how could you not?”
Rodgers has expressed fondness for playing with Adams, reminiscing about their successful time together in Green Bay, where they achieved remarkable feats, including leading the league in passing touchdowns.
The mutual desire for a reunion is palpable, making the Jets a compelling option.

Pittsburgh Steelers
The Pittsburgh Steelers may also be a consideration, yet Adams’ fit is not guaranteed. The question arises: How does he feel about playing with Justin Fields? While the Steelers quarterback shows promise, Adams might hesitate to join a team with a young, unproven signal-caller.
Adams and Aiyuk are at different career stages; Aiyuk is just beginning to hit his stride, while Adams might be past his prime. The financial implications of Adams’ hefty contract also present challenges for a team like Pittsburgh.
Speaking of the Ravens!
Zay Flowers had shown promise at the end of last season, but his performance this year hasn’t elevated him to a WR1 role. Adams would undoubtedly become the leading pass-catcher for the Ravens, though questions remain about his fit in Lamar Jackson’s offense. Nevertheless, Adams’ route-running skills could complement Jackson’s style, potentially making them a formidable duo.
Green Bay Packers
The Green Bay Packers could also be a viable option for Adams. After two years since his departure, the Packers have enough salary cap flexibility to bring him back, which could benefit both parties. Jordan Love has shown potential but lacks a true WR1 to elevate the receiving corps. Adams could fill that void, especially as the Packers seek to improve their standing in the NFC North.
The question remains whether the Packers would be interested in re-engaging with Adams, even if only for a limited time.
Washington Commanders
The Washington Commanders, with Jayden Daniels now leading the charge, have seen a resurgence in their playoff aspirations. While they may not be the favorites, adding Adams could solidify their position and help maintain their early-season momentum.
Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys might be another destination for Adams. Jerry Jones has faced scrutiny over his comments about going “all-in” for the 2024 season, and acquiring Adams could be a significant step in fulfilling that promise. With enough cap space, the Cowboys could easily fit Adams into their roster. Pairing him with CeeDee Lamb would create one of the most formidable receiving tandems in the league, posing a challenge for any defensive coordinator.
Though it may seem extravagant to invest in a receiver when other needs exist, the potential benefits of adding a player like Adams could outweigh the costs.
