Bill Belichick (UNC HC): +1000 (bet $10 to win $110 total)
This list is filled with high-profile candidates.
Leading the pack is Deion Sanders, a name that resonates throughout the football community.
Sanders, a Hall of Fame cornerback, famously won Super Bowl XXX with the Cowboys. He has recently coached the Colorado Buffaloes, achieving a 4-8 record in 2023 and a more promising 9-4 in 2024, following a challenging 1-11 season in 2022.
FOX Sports NFL reporter Ralph Vacchiano commented on Sanders’ suitability for the Cowboys’ head coaching position:
“His lack of NFL coaching experience doesn’t matter. He carries the weight of a Hall of Fame career, which would earn him immediate respect. He could motivate the Cowboys to perform at their best, especially as they approach the playoffs.”
Following Sanders in the odds are Kellen Moore and Kliff Kingsbury, both associated with division rivals. Moore, the offensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles, has a strong connection to the Cowboys, having played in Dallas from 2015 to 2017 and serving as quarterbacks coach before becoming offensive coordinator.
Kingsbury, currently the offensive coordinator for the Washington Commanders, led a team that ranked seventh in offensive performance last season. Meanwhile, the Eagles, with Moore at the helm, ranked eighth.
Among the other notable candidates is Bill Belichick, the former New England Patriots coach, who recently took the head coaching role at North Carolina.
Vacchiano shared insights on Belichick’s potential interest in the Cowboys:
“Belichick may have committed to the college ranks, but the terms of his contract suggest he could return to the NFL. Reports indicate he has shown interest in the Raiders’ position, and those close to him believe the Cowboys have long been on his radar. Jerry Jones, who previously hired Bill Parcells, could very well be intrigued by the idea of bringing Belichick on board.”
“It has been a while since Jones made a bold move like this, but if anyone can persuade Belichick to leave North Carolina so soon, it might just be him.”
