Cristiano Ronaldo has indicated that he is ‘likely’ to finish his playing career in Saudi Arabia. Having made his professional debut for Sporting CP at just 17, he has enjoyed a remarkable journey through football. Now at 39 years old, he stands at a crossroads where many athletes choose to retire.
In a recent interview with the Portuguese outlet Now, Ronaldo acknowledged the reality of his career’s end. He expressed a clear vision about where he might conclude his football journey, stating that he feels at home with Al Nassr.
“I don’t know if I’ll finish soon or in two or three years. But, possibly, it will be at Al Nassr. It’s the team where I’m happy, where I’m good, where I feel good, both in the country and in the league,” he shared. His contentment in the Arab League is evident, as he added, “That’s why, most likely I can finish my career at Al Nassr. I’m very happy to play in the Arab League and I want to continue.”
Ronaldo’s move to Al Nassr in December 2022 followed a tumultuous period with Manchester United. His contract with the club, which extends through 2025, is reported to be worth around $213 million annually, encompassing both his salary and endorsement deals.
While he could still opt for a return to Europe or even join Lionel Messi in Major League Soccer, the signs currently suggest that Ronaldo may choose to retire in Saudi Arabia, a decision that reflects his happiness and fulfillment in the league.
