Cooper Kupp has confirmed that the Los Angeles Rams are actively pursuing a trade for him. “I was informed that the team will be seeking a trade immediately and will be working with me and my family to find the right place to continue competing for championships,” Kupp stated in a message shared on X. He expressed his disagreement with the decision, stating, “I always believed it was going to begin and end in LA.”
Kupp reflected on the situation, saying, “Still, if there’s one thing that I have learned over the years: there are so many things that are out of your control, but it is how you respond to these things that you will look back on and remember.”
As he approaches his 32nd birthday at the start of the 2025 NFL season, Kupp still has two years left on a lucrative three-year, $80 million contract. His impressive track record includes ranking third in Rams history with 634 receptions, 57 receiving touchdowns, and fourth with 7,776 receiving yards.
During the previous season, Kupp recorded 67 receptions for 710 yards and six touchdowns across 11 regular-season games, along with six receptions for 90 yards during the playoffs. However, he faced challenges, including an ankle injury that sidelined him for part of the season.
The former All-Pro receiver has struggled with injuries since the Rams’ victory in Super Bowl LVI, dealing with knee, foot, and ankle problems. Kupp has spent his entire career with the Rams from 2017 to 2024, and he notably led the NFL in receptions (145), receiving yards (1,947), and touchdowns (16) during the 2021 season. Recently, he has voiced uncertainty about his future with the team.
Last season, the Rams finished strong, winning the NFC West with a 10-7 record and advancing to the NFC divisional round. As the team navigates this transition, Kupp’s potential departure raises questions about the future direction of the franchise and its star players.
