Colorado safety Shilo Sanders has undergone surgery on his arm following an injury sustained during the team’s recent defeat against Nebraska, as confirmed by his father and coach, Deion Sanders, in a social media update on Monday.
In his post, Deion Sanders shared several images of Shilo, including one showing him in a wheelchair and another depicting his arm in a cast while he recuperated in a hospital bed.
Currently, there is no set timeline for Shilo’s return to the field, as the university typically refrains from publicly disclosing injury details.
During an NBC halftime interview on Saturday, Deion Sanders expressed concern that his son may have broken his forearm, but he did not provide any further updates after the game.
The injury occurred in the first quarter as Shilo attempted to tackle Nebraska running back Dante Dowdell. He exited to the locker room and did not return to the game, which ended in a 28-10 loss for the Buffaloes.
Last season, Shilo Sanders earned all-Pac-12 honorable mention honors, amassing 69 tackles and an interception. He began his collegiate career at South Carolina before transferring to Jackson State to play under his father, and later joined the team in Boulder.
In the same game, quarterback Shedeur Sanders also faced challenges, getting sacked five times. Despite a struggling offensive line, he managed to throw for 244 yards and one touchdown but suffered a crucial interception in the first quarter that Nebraska converted into a touchdown.
After the game, Shedeur remained optimistic about his recovery, stating, “There’s nothing that recovery and everything can’t fix. We’re going to get back to the drawing board.”
Previously, Colorado secured a narrow 31-26 victory against FCS North Dakota State in their season opener. The Buffaloes are set to compete against Colorado State this Saturday night.
