Chiefs WR Rashee Rice is likely out for the season due to an LCL injury. A recent report from NFL Media revealed that Rice consulted with Dr. Dan Cooper, the Dallas Cowboys’ team doctor, recognized as a leading expert in knee injuries.

The diagnosis indicates that Rice will require surgery to repair his LCL, which contradicts earlier beliefs that he had torn his ACL. This injury could sideline him for approximately 3-4 months, effectively concluding his season.
According to NFL Insider Ian Rapoport, Rice is scheduled for surgery on Tuesday.
The Kansas City Chiefs placed Rice on injured reserve last week following his knee injury during the team’s 17-10 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers on September 29.
Rice, who has emerged as the Chiefs’ leading wide receiver, sustained the injury when quarterback Patrick Mahomes accidentally collided with him while attempting to make a tackle after an interception.
No formal diagnosis was provided by the team immediately after the injury, as head coach Andy Reid mentioned that the medical team was waiting for the swelling to decrease before conducting further imaging to assess the full extent of the damage.
While the Chiefs have not yet issued an official update on Rice’s condition, Rapoport noted that his long-term outlook appears to be positive.
Rice joins a growing list of key players facing significant injuries on the Chiefs roster. Fellow wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown is also out for the remainder of the regular season, and running back Isiah Pacheco is expected to be unavailable until November. With the NFL trade deadline approaching on November 5, Kansas City may consider acquiring another receiver to bolster their lineup.
