Bucks Shake Up Roster: Khris Middleton Heads to Wizards, Kyle Kuzma Joins Milwaukee!

Bucks reportedly trading Khris Middleton to Wizards for Kyle Kuzma

Bucks reportedly trading Khris Middleton to the Wizards for Kyle Kuzma marks a significant shift in the NBA landscape. A.J. Johnson is also involved, moving from the Bucks to the Wizards, while Patrick Baldwin Jr. heads to Milwaukee, alongside a future pick swap and additional second-round draft assets. This information comes from a source who spoke to the AP on the condition of anonymity as the trade awaits league approval.

This trade, initially reported by ESPN, unfolds just a day before Thursday’s 3 p.m. Eastern trade deadline, heightening the urgency and excitement surrounding the NBA’s roster changes.

Khris Middleton, a 33-year-old forward, departs Milwaukee after dedicating nearly all of his 13-year NBA career to the franchise. Despite battling injuries this season, he has managed to play 23 games, with a notable 51% shooting percentage, showcasing his efficiency even while coming off the bench for 16 of those games.

Middleton played a pivotal role in the Bucks’ 2021 championship victory and contributed to Team USA’s gold medal success at the Tokyo Olympics. His long-standing partnership with superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo has been a cornerstone of Milwaukee’s success. Antetokounmpo expressed his appreciation for Middleton’s return earlier this season, highlighting his impact on the team’s performance through his basketball IQ and defensive skills.

Kyle Kuzma, now joining the Bucks, will be playing for his third NBA team after spending four seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers and parts of four years with the Wizards. The 29-year-old forward has a career average of 17.2 points per game, contributing 15.2 points per game this season, which indicates his scoring potential.

This trade not only reshapes the rosters but also provides the Bucks with financial flexibility, positioning them below the second apron. This strategic move may open up further trade possibilities before the deadline, allowing Milwaukee to enhance their squad as they aim for another championship run.
