Will Bailey Joins South Carolina Coaching Staff
Returning to Columbia, veteran coach Will Bailey has been appointed as an assistant coach by head coach Lamont Paris. Bailey, who spent the 2023-24 season at Loyola University Chicago, brings a wealth of experience. Paris praised Bailey’s character, work ethic, and strong relationships with players and coaches, qualities crucial for successful recruitment and team building.
Bailey’s recent success includes aiding Loyola to a 23-10 record and a postseason NIT bid. His time at St. Louis with Travis Ford saw the Billikens achieving a 21-12 record. Earlier, Bailey served the Gamecocks under Frank Martin, contributing to the team’s competitive edge in the SEC. His positive influence is anticipated to further uplift South Carolina’s trajectory in the coming seasons.
Having previously coached at La Salle and East Tennessee State, Bailey has played significant roles in their successes, including NCAA and NIT tournament advancements. His coaching journey began after playing at UAB and Parkland College, where he achieved notable personal and team milestones. Bailey’s return to Columbia is marked by enthusiasm to foster South Carolina’s success in upcoming championships.
