Andy Reid on his coaching future with the Chiefs: 'I'll be back'

Andy Reid, the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, has confirmed he will continue coaching, stating, “Yes, I’ll be back.”

As he readies the team for their fifth Super Bowl appearance in just six seasons, the 66-year-old dispelled any rumors about retiring, even if the Chiefs secure their third consecutive championship.

Chiefs owner Clark Hunt expressed his hope that Reid will remain on the sidelines for many more seasons. “I don’t have a sense that he’s remotely close to wanting to be done,” Hunt shared with local media. “He has always said he will know when the time is right, and I trust he will let me know first.”

Reid stands on the brink of becoming one of the most successful coaches in NFL history. A victory on Sunday would elevate him to a group of only three coaches with at least four Super Bowl titles, joining legends Bill Belichick and Chuck Noll.

With a remarkable record of 301 wins in the regular season and playoffs, Reid is also closing in on Don Shula’s all-time record of 347 wins. However, Reid emphasized that personal milestones do not drive his passion for coaching.

“That’s not part of it,” he explained. “I just enjoy teaching. I don’t get caught up much in the stats or the records. I enjoy being around the guys. I love football and the game itself. You can’t put in the hours we do and not enjoy it.”
