Alex Bregman Undergoes Elbow Surgery to Remove Bone Chip Just Before MLB Free Agency!

Alex Bregman has elbow surgery to remove bone chip ahead of MLB free agency

Alex Bregman, the talented third baseman, recently underwent surgery to extract a bone chip from his right elbow.

Scott Boras, Bregman’s agent, disclosed the details of the procedure during a news conference held on Wednesday at the general managers meetings.

“He’s had his procedure. He’s going to be back swinging here in a few weeks, so he’s all through that process,” Boras stated, providing optimism about Bregman’s recovery.

The Houston Astros, the team Bregman has represented throughout his career, indicated that any specific updates would come directly from Boras.

Bregman entered free agency last Thursday after completing a five-year, $100 million contract that began in March 2019. In the previous season, the 30-year-old posted a batting average of .260, hitting 26 home runs and driving in 75 runs. Over his nine seasons in Major League Baseball, all with the Astros, he has maintained a career average of .272, with 191 home runs and 663 RBIs.

Boras also mentioned that Bregman is open to the idea of transitioning to second base, a notable shift for the two-time All-Star who has played exclusively at third since 2020.
