Ja Morant, the two-time NBA All-Star, is remaining tight-lipped regarding a recent report linking him to a burglary incident at his Memphis residence. This report claims that a group of seven men from Chile has been charged in federal court for orchestrating break-ins at the homes of well-known athletes across the nation.
During a pregame press conference in Indianapolis, officials from the Memphis Grizzlies confirmed that Morant had no comments on the allegations. The Grizzlies were set to face off against the Indiana Pacers that Thursday night, marking their first game after the All-Star break.

The FBI’s complaint does not specify the names of the athletes involved but references previous burglaries connected to high-profile players, including Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, as well as Joe Burrow from the Cincinnati Bengals and members of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the NBA’s Grizzlies and Milwaukee Bucks.
According to the complaint, the burglary of the Grizzlies player’s home occurred after 4 p.m. on December 19, 2024. That night, the Grizzlies secured a commanding victory against the Golden State Warriors, winning 144-93 in Memphis. The stolen items included “jewelry, watches, and luxury bags,” with a total value estimated at about $1 million.
A representative from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies responded to the burglary on December 20 at a residence located in an unincorporated area of the county. They have withheld the name of the player and the specific address due to the ongoing investigation.
Some suspects were apprehended in January following a traffic stop in Ohio, where they faced state charges for allegedly breaking into Burrow’s home. Court documents revealed that four of the men were living in the country illegally. Disturbingly, the suspects reportedly took selfies with some of the stolen items. The FBI noted that these groups frequently divided into smaller teams to carry out multiple burglaries.
