The San Francisco 49ers have granted wide receiver Deebo Samuel the green light to seek a trade partner. This decision follows Samuel’s request for a trade during the team’s exit meetings after the season concluded, highlighting his desire for a fresh start.
Should the 49ers decide to trade or release Samuel before June 1, they would face a significant $31.55 million dead-money hit against their salary cap. However, if they opt for a post-June 1 transaction, this figure could be reduced to manageable cap hits of $10.75 million over the next couple of seasons.
Since joining the 49ers in 2019, Samuel has made a notable impact on the field. However, he recently experienced a challenging season, finishing with 806 scrimmage yards and just four touchdowns due to injuries that limited his performance.
