Anthony Davis exits Mavs debut with apparent non-contact groin injury

Anthony Davis exited the game during his debut with the Dallas Mavericks after suffering a non-contact groin injury late in the third quarter against the Houston Rockets on Saturday.

The Mavericks announced he is doubtful to return due to this lower-body injury.

Davis joined the Mavericks in a significant trade that sent star player Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers. This trade raised eyebrows, particularly because of Davis’ ongoing injury issues.

Prior to the trade, the 31-year-old missed two games with the Lakers due to an abdominal strain. He also sat out the first two games with the Mavericks while they were on a five-game road trip.

The injury occurred as Alperen Sengun drove past him for a layup, with Davis going down without any physical contact. He was seen holding his groin and slowly making his way toward the offensive end, remaining near the Dallas bench while his teammates continued their play.

After the Rockets regained possession, Davis did not attempt to return to the defensive side of the court. The Mavericks called a foul to stop the clock, allowing him to exit the game. He briefly remained in the bench area before leaving the court entirely.

In the first half, Davis had an impressive performance, contributing 24 points, 13 rebounds, five assists, and three blocks, showcasing his potential impact on the Mavericks.
