Travis Kelce on his future: 'Hopefully [I'm] still playing football' in 3 years

Travis Kelce hopes to still be playing football in three years, showing no signs of slowing down, even if the Kansas City Chiefs clinch a third consecutive Super Bowl title on Sunday.

At 35, Kelce’s future plans have sparked curiosity, especially as his off-field fame has surged due to his relationship with pop sensation Taylor Swift and his successful sports podcast. This dual spotlight has raised questions about his career trajectory.

During the opening night festivities before the Super Bowl matchup against Philadelphia, Kelce was asked where he envisions himself in three years. “Hopefully still playing football,” he replied. “I love doing this, and I love coming into work every day. I feel like I still have a lot of good football left in me.” He emphasized the importance of preparing for life beyond football, acknowledging the limited duration of an athlete’s career.

Despite a slight dip from his peak performance, Kelce remains a significant contributor to the Chiefs. This season, he recorded 97 catches, accumulating 823 yards and scoring three touchdowns. His standout performance in the divisional-round victory over Houston, where he caught seven passes for 117 yards, showcased his enduring talent.

Kelce enters the Super Bowl holding impressive playoff records, including the most catches (174) and ranking second in both receiving yards (2,039) and touchdown receptions (20), just behind Hall of Famer Jerry Rice.

During the media frenzy on opening night, Kelce was a magnet for reporters, who bombarded him with questions ranging from football to his dance moves and even inquiries about potentially proposing to Swift if the Chiefs secure a victory. He humorously deflected the last question, stating, “A Super Bowl ring? Next question.”

Kelce acknowledged that his relationship with Swift serves as a source of motivation, pushing him to work as hard as she does in her career. “I better hold up my end of the bargain,” he remarked. “If she’s out here being the superstar she is, never taking no for an answer, and always working her tail off, I better match that energy for sure.”
