2025 NBA All-Star Game: Tyrese Maxey, Devin Booker among biggest snubs

The 2025 NBA All-Star Game rosters were revealed on Thursday night, showcasing a lineup filled with star power, including icons like LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and Giannis Antetokounmpo, alongside exciting newcomers such as Anthony Edwards and Victor Wembanyama.

However, not every deserving player made the cut.

Here are the five most notable snubs from the 2025 NBA All-Star Game:

NBA All-Star 2025 Snubs

5. Trae Young (Atlanta Hawks)

Trae Young consistently poses a scoring threat, but this season, he has also excelled in playmaking. Averaging 22.5 points, an impressive 11.4 assists, and 1.3 steals per game, he boasts shooting percentages of 40.0% from the field, 34.0% from beyond the arc, and 85.4% from the free-throw line. As a three-time All-Star, his contributions are crucial for the Hawks, especially as they fight for a Play-In Tournament spot for the fourth consecutive year. Without Young’s leadership, Atlanta would likely struggle at the bottom of the Eastern Conference.

4. Devin Booker (Phoenix Suns)

Despite the Phoenix Suns facing challenges in the Western Conference, Devin Booker has remained a standout performer. He is currently averaging 25.5 points, 6.7 assists, and 1.2 steals per game, with shooting splits of 44.4% from the field, 34.1% from three-point range, and 89.3% from the charity stripe. Having scored over 30 points in 14 of the 41 games this season, Booker, a two-time All-NBA player and four-time All-Star, has adapted well to changes within the team, including a new head coach and adjustments to the starting lineup.

3. Domantas Sabonis (Sacramento Kings)

Domantas Sabonis is arguably enjoying the best season of his nine-year NBA career, despite the Sacramento Kings’ rocky road that included the firing of head coach Mike Brown in December. Sabonis is averaging a career-high 20.9 points, leading the league with 14.5 rebounds, and contributing 6.6 assists per game while shooting an impressive 61.0% from the field, 48.1% from three, and 77.1% from the free-throw line. As a two-time All-NBA player and three-time All-Star, he has consistently made his mark as a dominant interior scorer and facilitator.

While De’Aaron Fox drives the Kings’ offense, Sabonis’s impact on the team’s overall performance cannot be overstated.

2. LaMelo Ball (Charlotte Hornets)

LaMelo Ball’s chances of making the All-Star Game were hindered by injuries, limiting him to just 31 games this season. Nevertheless, in those appearances, he has showcased his talent and remains a pivotal figure for the Charlotte Hornets.

1. Tyrese Maxey (Philadelphia 76ers)

Tyrese Maxey has emerged as a key player for the Philadelphia 76ers amid significant challenges, including Joel Embiid’s limited appearances and Paul George’s absence due to injury. Averaging a career-high 27.1 points, six assists, and 1.9 steals per game, while shooting 43.8% from the field, 33.7% from three, and 87.1% from the free-throw line, Maxey’s contributions have been instrumental in keeping the 76ers competitive in the playoff race. As the NBA’s sixth-leading scorer, he has proven himself as one of the league’s top all-around players, deserving of recognition as an All-Star.

Maxey’s ability to step up during a tumultuous season highlights his importance to a franchise with championship aspirations, making his omission from the All-Star roster particularly surprising.
