Pelicans' Dejounte Murray will reportedly miss rest of season with Achilles injury

New Orleans Pelicans guard Dejounte Murray will miss the rest of the season due to a torn Achilles tendon, as reported by Chris Haynes on Friday.

Murray sustained the injury during the first quarter of the Pelicans’ matchup against the Boston Celtics on Friday night. Coach Willie Green did not provide details about the injury’s severity following the game, which ended in a narrow 118-116 loss for New Orleans.

“No update yet,” Green stated. “He’ll undergo imaging, and we’ll share more information after that.”

As Murray drove into the lane for a shot, he fell to the court after missing, clutching the area near his right foot. He managed to get up but hobbled to the Pelicans bench.

The team quickly confirmed that Murray would not return to the game.

“It’s extremely difficult to see a player who means so much to our team go down like that,” Green remarked. “We’ll keep him in our thoughts and wait for the imaging results.”

The Pelicans, already plagued by injuries, were without key players like Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram, and Herb Jones.

“These are the challenges we’ve faced all season long,” Green added, highlighting the team’s ongoing struggles.
