Yankees fans who interfered with Mookie Betts' World Series catch get indefinite ban

Yankees fans who interfered with Mookie Betts’ World Series catch have received an indefinite ban from Major League Baseball. This action follows an incident during Game 4 of the World Series last October, where two spectators disrupted Betts’ play by grabbing his wrist and attempting to wrest the ball from his mitt as he approached the right-field wall at Yankee Stadium.

The fans were swiftly ejected from the game, which saw the Yankees triumph over the Dodgers with an 11-4 scoreline. Their tickets for Game 5 were subsequently revoked, marking a significant consequence of their actions.

As reported by Fox Sports, the fans received a formal notification of their ban this week. The letter detailed the severity of their actions, stating: “You interfered with play by intentionally and forcefully grabbing a player. Your conduct posed a serious risk to the health and safety of the player and went far over the line of acceptable fan behavior.” The ban extends indefinitely to all MLB stadiums, offices, and events associated with the league.

Moreover, the report indicated that should they attempt to violate this ban, they would face removal from the premises and potential arrest for trespassing.

Interestingly, the pair had secured their front-row seats from an unnamed season ticket holder, who has maintained these seats since 1990 but was not in attendance for the game. This season ticket holder retains the right to keep their tickets, despite the actions of the fans.
