Lionel Messi-led Inter Miami unveils five-match, four-country preseason trip

Lionel Messi-led Inter Miami has announced an exciting five-match preseason tour that will take the team across four countries, gearing up for the 2025 season. This tour promises to be a thrilling showcase, especially for fans eager to see the reigning MLS Supporters’ Shield winners in action.

On Friday, the club revealed three matches scheduled in South America and Central America. The tour kicks off on January 29 in Lima, Peru, where Inter Miami will face off against the Peruvian champions, Club Universitario de Deportes.

Following the match in Peru, the team will head to Panama City to compete against Sporting San Miguelito on February 2. The action continues on February 8 in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, where Inter Miami will challenge Club Deportivo Olimpia.

The preseason schedule also includes two previously announced matches: a clash with Mexican powerhouse Club America in Las Vegas on January 18, and a concluding match against MLS rival Orlando City in Tampa, Florida, on February 14.

Inter Miami’s president of football operations, Raul Sanllehi, expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming fixtures. “These five matches against both domestic and international opponents will prepare us for a highly anticipated 2025 season,” he stated. He highlighted the importance of these games in positioning the team for various competitions, including the FIFA Club World Cup, CONCACAF Champions Cup, Leagues Cup, and MLS.

As the team gears up for this preseason tour, training camp will commence with physicals on Saturday, followed by the first practice session under new head coach Javier Mascherano on Monday.
