Mavericks star Luka Doncic is latest pro athlete to have home burglarized

Mavericks star Luka Doncic is the latest professional athlete to experience a home burglary, highlighting a troubling trend among sports figures.

According to Doncic’s business manager, Lara Beth Seager, the incident occurred Friday night while nobody was present at the residence. She confirmed that Doncic promptly filed a police report following the break-in.

Reports indicate that approximately $30,000 worth of jewelry was taken during the burglary, as detailed in an internal police report obtained by the Dallas Morning News.

At just 25 years old, Doncic, a Slovenian native, becomes the sixth known athlete in the United States to suffer a break-in since October. Other notable victims include NFL quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs and Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals, as well as Mahomes’ teammate, Travis Kelce.

Additional victims include Milwaukee Bucks forward Bobby Portis and Minnesota Timberwolves guard Mike Conley Jr., raising concerns about the safety of high-profile athletes.

In response to these incidents, both the NFL and NBA have issued security alerts for their players. These warnings highlight that organized and skilled groups are increasingly targeting the homes of professional athletes, often when they are away for games.

Burrow expressed his frustration over the loss of privacy that comes with being a burglary victim, emphasizing the emotional toll such incidents can take.

This break-in at Doncic’s residence occurred just two days after he suffered a left calf strain during a Christmas Day game against the Timberwolves, an injury that is expected to sideline him for approximately a month.
