Baltimore Ravens Aim for Comeback

With a week off to recharge, the Baltimore Ravens are eager to bounce back. They sit two games behind the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC North and are vying for a wildcard spot. The Ravens’ recent form shows a mixed bag, going 3-2 in their last five games, including a notable victory over the Bengals and a close 24-19 defeat to the Eagles. They were favored by three points in that match but fell short, covering the spread in only two of their last five outings.

Quarterback Lamar Jackson is having a standout season, despite a less-than-stellar performance against the Eagles, where he threw for 237 yards and rushed for 79 yards. This season, he has amassed 3,290 passing yards with an impressive 29 touchdowns against just three interceptions. Running back Derrick Henry has also been a key player, exceeding the 100-yard mark in six games this season and accumulating 1,407 rushing yards.

Wide receiver Zay Flowers has been a reliable target, recording over 100 receiving yards in four games, totaling 863 yards so far. Rashod Bateman, who has 574 receiving yards, is expected to contribute after missing part of the last game due to a knee issue. The Ravens’ offense has been potent, scoring at least 30 points in three of their past five games, averaging an impressive 422 yards per contest.

On the defensive side, the Ravens have shown improvement, allowing 24 points or fewer in four of their last five games, including only 23 against the Chargers. In the recent loss, the defense limited a strong Philadelphia offense to just 252 total yards. While their pass defense ranks last, their rush defense is the best in the league.

Baltimore’s offense averages 29.5 points per game, which places them third in the league, while their defense gives up 24.5 points, ranking them 24th.

New York Giants Seek to End Losing Streak

The New York Giants are desperate to snap their eight-game losing streak. Expectations were high at the start of the season, but the performance of quarterback Daniel Jones, who was released in November, has hindered their progress. The Giants recently faced defeats against the Cowboys and the Saints, with the latter game ending in a 14-11 loss at home. As 5.5-point underdogs, they have only managed to cover the spread once in their last five matches.

Throughout the season, the Giants have rotated through four quarterbacks, with Jones no longer in the picture. Drew Lock started the last two games but is now sidelined with an injury. Enter Tommy DeVito, who threw for 189 yards in his only appearance against the Buccaneers.

Despite their struggles, the running game has shown promise. Tyrone Tracy leads the team with 665 rushing yards, including a 103-yard performance against the Panthers. Veteran Devin Singletary contributed just eight rushing yards last week, totaling 357 for the season. Rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers has also impressed, recording 819 receiving yards, including 79 last week. However, the Giants have consistently scored 22 points or fewer over their last eight games, averaging only 301 yards per game.

Defensively, the Giants have been inconsistent. Although they performed well earlier in the season, they have struggled recently, allowing 28 or more points in five of the last six games. They held the Saints to 292 total yards but need to tighten up their defense overall. Their pass defense ranks sixth, while the rush defense is 29th in the league.

Currently, New York averages just 15 points per game, placing them at the bottom of the league, while their defense allows an average of 22.5 points, ranking 16th overall.
