Taylor Swift made a surprise visit to a Kansas City children’s hospital, delighting parents and young patients as she shared laughter, posed for photographs, and exchanged thoughtful gifts.
Cassie Thomas, a parent at the hospital, received a vague heads-up to prepare her son Beckett for a special visitor. She was completely taken aback when Swift, just off her Eras Tour and one day shy of her 35th birthday, entered Beckett’s room at Children’s Mercy Hospital on Thursday.
“No rumors. We literally had no idea this was happening,” Thomas shared, still in disbelief.
Beckett, a 13-year-old cancer patient, is not only a fan of Swift but also of her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. He has taken to using a 3D printer to craft earrings featuring his name and that of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, selling them to nurses throughout the hospital.
Now, Swift proudly owns a pair of those special earrings.
“She was amazing,” Beckett’s mom remarked. “So down to earth.”
During her visit, another patient expressed her love for Swift’s song “Love Story” and asked about San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy, who faced the Chiefs in the Super Bowl earlier this year.
Taken aback, Taylor responded, “Brock Purdy, what? I mean, I don’t mind Brock Purdy,” before adding, “He put me through a lot last February.”
Purdy had previously joked about being prepared to disappoint Swift before the Super Bowl, to which he answered, “Yes.”
The Chiefs ultimately secured a thrilling victory, edging out the 49ers 25-22 in overtime, marking their second consecutive Super Bowl title.
“I was very stressed for a second, but it all ended up fine,” Swift told the young fan, a moment captured in a video shared online.
The girl then remarked, “I like Travis now,” to which Swift enthusiastically replied, “Me too. That’s an absolute yes on that one.”
As for Swift’s plans, there has been no confirmation on whether she will be attending the Chiefs game against the Browns on Sunday in Kelce’s hometown of Cleveland.
