The Lions Show Dominance

The Detroit Lions improved to 7-1 straight up (SU) and against the spread (ATS) after a 24-14 victory against the Green Bay Packers in Week 9. This win marked their sixth consecutive victory, both straight up and against the spread, as they easily covered a 2.5-point spread.

Despite being outgained in total yardage, 411-261, the Lions established a commanding 24-3 lead when Jahmyr Gibbs scored a touchdown in the third quarter. The Lions also won the turnover battle, thanks to Kerby Joseph’s pivotal pick-six, which put them ahead in the second quarter.

“I don’t think it matters where we play,” said Lions head coach Dan Campbell. “We knew the conditions could be tough, but that’s a tremendous win, and I’m proud of our guys for stepping up.”

Quarterback Jared Goff completed 18 of 22 passes for 145 yards and a touchdown in Week 9. Running back David Montgomery carried the ball 17 times for 73 yards, while Jahmyr Gibbs added 65 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries. Amon-Ra St. Brown also made an impact, catching seven passes for 56 yards and a touchdown.

This season, Goff has thrown for 1,840 yards, with 14 touchdowns and just four interceptions, leading the league in completion percentage at 74.9%. The Lions currently boast the highest-scoring offense in the NFL, averaging 32.3 points per game.

The Texans Seek Home Field Advantage

The Houston Texans (6-3; 3-5-1 ATS) have faced some challenges recently, losing two of their last three games. They managed to secure a 23-20 victory over the Indianapolis Colts, but suffered road losses against the Green Bay Packers (24-22) and the New York Jets (21-13).

In Week 9, the Texans played against the Jets on Thursday Night Football. Houston outgained New York by a slight margin, 322-293, and held a 7-0 lead at the half. However, two late touchdowns from the Jets sealed their comeback victory over the Texans.

“We need to figure out what’s happening up front. We allowed eight sacks, and it felt like we were scrambling on every drop back,” said Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans.

Quarterback C.J. Stroud had a tough outing, completing 11 of 30 passes for 191 yards. Running back Joe Mixon led the Texans with 24 carries for 106 yards and a touchdown, while wide receiver Tank Dell recorded six receptions for 126 yards.

Mixon has been a standout performer this season, racking up 724 yards from scrimmage and seven touchdowns across six games. Stroud has thrown for 2,139 yards, 11 touchdowns, and four interceptions. The Texans average 22.3 points per game (17th in the NFL) while giving up 22.2 points (14th).
