Record
Last Week: 3-2
Season: 3-2
(All times ET)
Saturday, Sept. 7
Georgia Tech @ Syracuse (noon, ACC Network)
There’s a chance to rethink perceptions of Georgia Tech after witnessing Florida State’s struggles. While the Yellow Jackets have shown promise, the upset victory over FSU might not hold as much weight as initially thought. This week, their defense faces a more competent offense led by Kyle McCord and Oronde Gadsden, presenting a true test.
Iowa State @ Iowa (3:30 p.m., CBS)
Concerns linger about Iowa’s offense, which struggled last week with a 6-0 halftime score against Illinois State before scoring late. With Kirk Ferentz back, many might expect improvement, but Iowa State poses a greater challenge. If Iowa State lives up to expectations, they could secure a victory at Kinnick Stadium.
South Carolina @ Kentucky (3:30 p.m., ABC)
While it’s easy to overlook Week 1 results, South Carolina’s performance against Old Dominion raises significant concerns. Their touchdown drives were short, and they struggled offensively. Facing a solid Kentucky defense could lead to a tough outing. A scoreline of 27-7 wouldn’t be surprising.
Colorado @ Nebraska (7:30 p.m., NBC)
This pick may not be popular, but Chris is confident in taking the points with Colorado. The Buffaloes are expected to score, making them a solid underdog choice. Nebraska’s recent win against UTEP isn’t enough to convince Chris that they can stop a dynamic Colorado offense led by Sanders, Hunter, and Horn. The pressure on Nebraska is immense, and they need to deliver in a game they haven’t won in years. A victory could set them on track for a favorable season.
Houston @ Oklahoma (7:45 p.m., SEC Network)
Reviewing Oklahoma’s performance against Temple reveals some troubling signs. Jackson Arnold’s passing was limited, and their total yardage was unimpressive. With their top receiver out, questions arise about their ability to replicate last week’s defensive success. Houston may not have shined offensively against UNLV, but their defense held up well. Chris believes Houston can keep this game competitive.
