2024-25 NBA award odds: Wembanyama favored for DPOY

2024-25 NBA award odds show that Victor Wembanyama is heavily favored to win the Defensive Player of the Year award. This recognition highlights his remarkable impact on the court, especially in his rookie season.

In addition to the MVP award, several other prestigious accolades are up for grabs this season. DraftKings Sportsbook provides the latest odds for six individual awards as of February 12.

Rookie of the Year

Stephon Castle: +185 (bet $10 to win $28.50 total)
Kel’el Ware: +205 (bet $10 to win $20.50 total)
Jaylen Wells: +600 (bet $10 to win $70 total)
Zaccharie Risacher: +850 (bet $10 to win $95 total)

What to know: Wembanyama took home last year’s Rookie of the Year title, and among the last ten winners, half were international players. Castle, who plays alongside Wembanyama in San Antonio, is the favorite this season. The last franchise to achieve back-to-back Rookie of the Year winners was the Minnesota Timberwolves, who had Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns win in consecutive years.

Defensive Player of the Year

Victor Wembanyama: -1600 (bet $10 to win $10.63 total)
Jaren Jackson Jr.: +2200 (bet $10 to win $230 total)
Evan Mobley: +2500 (bet $10 to win $260 total)

What to know: Many analysts believe Wembanyama was overlooked for this award last year, but this season, he seems poised to claim it. Historically, centers and power forwards have dominated the DPOY category, winning 17 of the last 20 years. Currently, Wembanyama leads the league in blocks, averaging an impressive 3.9 per game.

Sixth Man of the Year

Payton Pritchard: -175 (bet $10 to win $15.71 total)
De’Andre Hunter: +350 (bet $10 to win $45 total)
Malik Beasley: +650 (bet $10 to win $75 total)
Naz Reid: +1300 (bet $10 to win $140 total)

What to know: Pritchard has not started any games this season but is contributing nearly 14 points per game for the Boston Celtics. If he wins, he could be the second Celtics player to earn this honor in three years, following Malcolm Brogdon’s victory in 2022-23.

Most Improved Player

Cade Cunningham: -120 (bet $10 to win $18.33 total)
Norman Powell: +125 (bet $10 to win $22.50 total)
Tyler Herro: +1100 (bet $10 to win $120 total)

What to know: The Most Improved Player award has increasingly been associated with All-Stars. In the last decade, only two players have won without being selected as All-Stars that same season. Cunningham, the current frontrunner, is set to make his All-Star Game debut this year.

Coach of the Year

Kenny Atkinson: -600 (bet $10 to win $11.67 total)
Ime Udoka: +1200 (bet $10 to win $130 total)
JB Bickerstaff: +1500 (bet $10 to win $160 total)

What to know: The Coach of the Year award has seen East coaches take home the trophy five times in the last decade, while West coaches have claimed it the other five times. Although having the best record in the league is beneficial, it hasn’t guaranteed a win; only three coaches with the best record have won this award in the last ten years. Cleveland currently holds the second-best record in the league.

Clutch Player of the Year

Nikola Jokić: -135 (bet $10 to win $17.41 total)
Trae Young: +800 (bet $10 to win $90 total)
Tyrese Maxey: +800 (bet $10 to win $90 total)

What to know: In its third year, the Clutch Player of the Year award has been claimed by point guards for the last two seasons (De’Aaron Fox and Steph Curry). Jokić is making his case with an average of 4.5 clutch points per game and a shooting percentage of 56.7% in those critical moments. Young, while averaging 4.4 clutch points, has a lower shooting percentage at 39.7%. Maxey leads with 4.9 clutch points per game but has a shooting percentage of 45.9% in clutch situations.
