NBA – THU 3/14 | 7:00 PM EDT | BANKERS LIFE FIELDHOUSE
The Oklahoma City Thunder were in action at home against Brooklyn Wednesday night in an inter-conference game. The Thunder entered Wednesday tied for fourth in the Western Conference, 4.5 games behind the Warriors for the top spot: they were 3.5 games behind the Nuggets in the Northwest Division race. Oklahoma City is 6-4 in the second game of back to back situations this season. Oklahoma City averages 112.2 points per game in those situations, which is below their season average of 115.2 points per contest. The Thunder gives up just 106.2 points a night in those games, which is better than their full season mark of 111.1 points a night.
The Indiana Pacers had lost two straight and three of four before picking up the win over the Knicks in their last match-up Tuesday night. Indiana entered Wednesday fourth in the Eastern Conference standings, eight games behind the Bucks in the Central Division and Eastern Conference races. The Pacers trailed by two after the opening quarter, led by three at the half, by 12 after three quarters and by 16 with 7:14 to play in the game. Indiana withstood the Knicks’ challenge and got the win despite getting outscored 17-6 the rest of the way. Indiana shot 43.5 percent from the field, including eight of 28 from three-point range, and forced 20 turnovers in the contest. Bojan Bogdanovic led Indiana with 24 points in the win.
My models see the Indiana beating the fading Thunder on Thursday, winning by at least seven points and covering the razor-thin line. Simulations models have the Indiana winning more than two-thirds of the time, so there’s major value on the slight home chalk.
