NBA – FRI 3/15 | 7:00 PM EDT | CAPITAL ONE ARENA
The Charlotte Hornets lost their second straight contest as they were hammered on the road by Houston. Charlotte entered Thursday 10th in the Eastern Conference, two games behind the Heat for the final playoff spot. The Hornets were down 38-19 after the opening quarter and were down by 27 at the half: they were unable to get closer than 10 the rest of the way despite a combined effort to make a run. Charlotte shot 42.7 % from the field, including 16 of 41 from three-point range, and lost the rebounding battle 55-39. Kemba Walker led The Hornets with 40 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists in the loss.
The Washington Wizards survived Orlando in a Southeast Division match-up to earn their second straight win. Washington entered Thursday 11th in the Eastern Conference, 3.5 games behind the Heat for the final playoff spot. The Wizards were a head by one after the first quarter, by eight at the half and by two after three quarters. With the game even at 80 with 7:57 to play in the game, Washington rode an 11-2 run to take control of the game. The Wizards shot 46.7 % from the field, including eight of 27 from three-point range, and held Orlando to 38.9 % shooting. Bradley Beal led The Wizards with 23 points, six rebounds and seven assists in the win.
My numbers see the Wizards topping the Hornets by at least eight points Friday, providing a value spot on the slight home chalk. I’ve got the Wizards covering in 62 percent of simulations while winning outright more than two-thirds of the time. The Wizards have covered four straight home games and the home team is 9-2 ATS in this series.
