NHL Philadelphia vs. Washington Prediction, Preview

The basement of the Metro Division, that is. Philadelphia is not the worst team in the league, but they are pretty close as their 36 points are tied for 2nd fewest in the league. The Flyers trail the Devils for the 7th spot in the Metro Division by three points and they would like to gain ground on them between last night’s game at home against the Blues and this one.

The Washington Capitals are atop the Metro Division, but they recently had a three-game losing streak going. They were able to end that in their last game as they topped the Detroit Red Wings on the road by a score of 3-2 It was a hard-fought battle by they came out on top in the end and their lead over the Penguins is now two points.

In the midst of a six-game losing streak, the Flyers had to be relieved to see the lowly Blues coming to Philly but instead of a win the Orange and Black suffered a demoralizing, lackluster 3-0 loss. Less than 24 hours after that defeat, the Flyers are in D.C. to take on the blazing Capitals. My trusty projections show the Capitals winning this one a whopping 72 percent of the time and outscoring Philadelphia by more than one goal. Back the Caps to win.
