HOUSTON @ DENVER | 2/01 | 10:00 PM EST
The Rockets were at home with star guards James Harden and Chris Paul both on the floor at the same time, playing against a struggling Pelicans team without its best player. It was the perfect storm type scenario that should have ended in a Rockets blowout victory. Instead, the Rockets were embarrassed on their home court in a 121-116 loss.
The Pelicans ran into a brick wall against the Nuggets on Wednesday night. Shots didn’t come nearly as easily against the Nuggets as they did when the Pelicans were playing the Rockets. It’s a stark contrast between playing one of the best defensive teams in the league as opposed to one of the worst. The visiting Nuggets brought Pelicans center Jahlil Okafor back down to earth after back-to-back 20-plus point performances.
Model numbers see the Nuggets taking down the Rockets by 10 points Friday, providing value on the modest home favorite. I’ve got Denver covering the spread in nearly two-thirds of simulations. The Nuggets have covered four straight home games and the favorite is on a 4-1 ATS run in this series.
