Today’s NCAAB Game Prediction: Pittsburgh vs. Boston College – Basketball Pick for 3/12/19

NCAAB – TUE 3/12 | 7:00 PM EDT | SPECTRUM CENTER

The Pittsburgh Panthers’ swoon ended–at least temporarily–with their 56-53 victory over Notre Dame last weekend to avoid finishing alone in last place in the ACC. They earned the 15th seed for a date with Boston College that will determine who faces No. 6 seed Syracuse in Wednesday’s second round. The Panthers is led by guard Xavier Johnson, who averages 15.6 points and 4.5 assists per game–both team-highs. Fellow freshman Trey McGowens, who has scored at least 30 points twice in ACC play, finished with a team-high 16 points against the Fighting Irish.

The Boston College Eagles made some noise in the ACC Tournament last season before and hopes to have another long run this time around, beginning with a first-round date with No. 14 seed Pittsburgh. Boston College, who lost their last three games of the regular season, won a pair of contests in last season’s tourney as a No. 12 seed before a loss to Clemson in the quarterfinals. In order to duplicate that run, the current unit will need to be much better than it was last Saturday at home against North Carolina State (lost 73-47).

I am very confused by this line. Call this a trap bet, but the Eagles have far too much value to pass up Tuesday night. B.C. played this depleted Panthers team less than a month ago and showed why it is the better team. Look for Pitt to continue its miserable season, which has seen the Panthers lose 14 of 15. Eagles win comfortably.

PICK *BOSTON COLLEGE +1
