NCAAB – MON 3/11 | 9:00 PM EDT | NIU CONVOCATION CENTER
The Bobcats struggled for most of the regular season, but they played well at the end of the season and won two of their last three games. They will be going for their second win in a row and third win in their last four games when they face the Huskies on Monday. They will also be trying to pick up their first win over the Huskies this season after dropping their two regular-season contests. Ohio is an average offensive team, scoring 70.4 points per game. The Bobcats Ohio U are shooting 43 % from the floor and 30 % three-pointers. Jason Carter leads the way for the Bobcats with 16.5 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. Teyvion Kirk is averaging 14.1 points and 5.6 rebounds per game, while Ben Vander Plas is averaging 8.8 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.
Like the Bobcats, the Huskies struggled during the regular season but finished on a high note, winning three of their last four games. They will be going for their third win in a row and fourth win in their last five games when they face the Bobcats on Monday. Northern Illinois has played well offensively, averaging 73.5 points per game. The team is shooting 46.5 percent from the field and 34.9 percent from three-point range. Eugene German leads the way for the Huskies with 19.6 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. Levi Bradley is averaging 14.6 points and 5.3 rebounds per game, while Dante Thorpe is averaging 13.7 points and 2.8 rebounds per game.
This is a first-round MAC Tournament game as Northern Illinois tries to beat Ohio for the third time this season. The Huskies won their home meeting 71-60 on Jan. 29, and I’m projecting something similar Monday night. In my simulations, the Huskies are covering about two-thirds of the time. Back Northern Illinois to win for the fourth time in five games, and lay the points.
